For Jordan Bardella, it's a "defeat". Given the big winner in the legislative elections, the National Rally ultimately lost its bet. On July 7, the party came in third position in the poll after the New Popular Front and Together. For the president of the RN, it is a hard blow to take. Because after imagining himself at Matignon, he took a cold shower. And the day after the second round, he began a sort of mea culpa that no one expected.
"We always make mistakes, I made some, we made some and I also take my share of responsibility in this result, I was the leader of the RN in the European elections but also in this campaign", admitted Jordan Bardella to the press. His “errors” according to him? The presence of candidates singled out for anti-Semitic or racist comments, whom he says are “bad apples”. Most of them were not elected. But these controversies have been heard.

The result of this election "will surely require that we look at things, on the investiture of a certain number of candidates that we were led to rule out", recognized the person close to Marine Le Pen. “There are efforts to be made both on the professionalization of our local presence, perhaps on the choice of a certain number of candidates. I say it clearly, in some constituencies, the choices we made were not not the good ones,” added Jordan Bardella.
Invited immediately on the set of 8 p.m. on TF1, Jordan Bardella continued this introspection. "When you are the boss, you take responsibility, he began. (...) I take responsibility when there are errors. Of the 577 candidates that we invested, a few casting errors", continued Jordan Bardella before being cut by Gilles Bouleau. “Not a few, 50 out of 500 candidates,” opposed the journalist.
