Introduction
If you’re looking for a recipe that guarantees rave reviews at your next party, look no further! This dish has been my secret weapon for years, and every time I bring it to a gathering, it's an instant hit. Whether it's a casual get-together or a special occasion, this recipe strikes the perfect balance of flavor, presentation, and ease. Not only is it simple to prepare, but it’s also incredibly versatile, making it an ideal choice for any party menu.
Ingredients
2 cups of cooked chicken (shredded)
1 cup of cream cheese, softened
½ cup of sour cream
1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese
½ cup of green onions, chopped
2 tablespoons of hot sauce (adjust to taste)
1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon of garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
1 package of puff pastry or tortilla chips for serving
Fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). If using puff pastry, line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar cheese, green onions, hot sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until everything is well incorporated.
If using puff pastry, roll out the pastry on a floured surface and cut it into squares. Spoon the chicken mixture into the center of each square and fold the corners over to create a little pocket. If you prefer tortilla chips, simply place the chicken mixture on top of the chips for an easy dip alternative.
Place the prepared puff pastry pockets on the baking sheet and bake for 15–20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up. If using tortilla chips, bake the chicken-topped chips for 10 minutes or until the cheese melts and everything is heated through.
Remove from the oven and garnish with fresh cilantro for an extra touch of freshness.
Serving and Storage Tips
Serve these chicken-filled puff pastries or chip dip warm straight out of the oven for the best experience.
If you make them in advance, store the puff pastries in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days, or refrigerate for longer shelf life. You can also reheat them in the oven for 5–10 minutes at 350°F (175°C) to restore their crispy texture.
For the tortilla chip version, serve with extra chips on the side for scooping, or pair with a fresh vegetable platter for a balanced party spread.
