Over the next 48 hours, rain will continue to fall on already flooded land. On Saturday, Andalusia will be the most affected region, with 100mm of rain, which is usually a month's worth of rainfall. Spanish authorities are recommending that residents stay indoors.
A poignant testimony
“There were people who wanted to get to their houses at all costs. We saw people being swept away and sinking. I know there was a person there who clung to a lamppost for a while, but just like that, he sank. In three minutes, the street was completely flooded. It lasted for hours and we heard as if there was a river flowing, but with a very strong current,” testified a resident of the damaged area.
