They often land without warning, like guests who were not invited. A hum in the kitchen, two or three that revolve around the fruit basket, and now the windows become their favorite playground. Yes, flies can quickly turn a peaceful interior into a small scene of irritating aerobatic.
But if they are there, it is not by chance. Their presence tells something about your house, and fortunately, there are simple gestures to get them out of the heavy artillery without having to get the heavy artillery out.
Why are there flies in my house? What they reveal about your interior
Flies do not appear as if by magic. They are attracted by certain specific conditions: food left in the open air, a garbage can a little too full, a ripe fruit forgotten in the basket or an ambient humidity a little too insecure. This is particularly true in summer, when heat accelerates the decomposition of organic waste. And they never miss the opportunity.
But what we know less is that an invasion of flies can also be a little warning signal: poor ventilation, hygiene to be reviewed, or even ... worries hidden in pipes. A discreet leak or evacuation problem can create an ideal environment for these insects. If, despite your efforts, the flies are still coming back, it may be worth making a small check on the plumbing side.
Another thing to know is that not all flies are the same. There are classic, often large and noisy domestic flies. The midges, for their part, are smaller and willingly invite themselves as soon as a fruit begins to ripen too much. And then there are fruit flies, which are real specialists to detect any drop of fermented juice. Recognising them is already better to defend themselves.
And be careful, in rare cases, the presence of flies may signal something else: a small animal dead in a duct or an attic (yes, it's not very stinging, but it happens). Again, if you are completely free of origin, a professional can help you to see more clearly.
