In a bowl, mix 1 tablespoon of dried yeast and 2 tablespoons of granulated sugar. Add 200 ml of lukewarm milk and grated orange zest.
Incorporate an egg into this mixture, then gradually add 400 grams of flour and 1 teaspoon of salt. Knead until a smooth dough forms.
Add 1 tablespoon of softened butter to the dough and knead again until the butter is well incorporated. Let the dough rest for one hour to double in size.
After resting, divide the dough into portions, shape them into balls, and let them rest for another 15 minutes.
Heat oil in a frying pan over low heat. Cook the dough balls in the hot oil until golden brown on both sides.
After baking, fill the dough balls with chocolate spread or jam and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Tips:
Make sure the oil is not too hot to prevent the doughnuts from cooking too quickly on the outside without being thoroughly cooked on the inside.
You can vary the toppings by using different jams or adding toppings such as pastry cream or chocolate icing.
Sprinkle with powdered sugar just before serving for an attractive presentation and an extra sweet touch.
