What is Yorkshire Pudding?

Initially known as dripping pudding, Yorkshire pudding is a British baked pudding made of eggs, flour and milk (or water). A paste is made and then cooked in the hot oil in an oven. Yorkshire Puddings are said to be from the north of England.
Ingredients of Yorkshire pudding

Eggs – use large eggs
Milk – water can also be used
Flour – all-purpose flour
Vegetable oil – use a neutral vegetable oil (no olive oil)

Advice

Do not use olive oil for this recipe, it has a lower smoke point and will also give a slight aftertaste to the Yorkshire Pudding.

Mix the dough until it is just combined, do not mix too much.

For a good puff on the Yorkshire Pudding, the dough must be cold. Once you have mixed, place the dough in the refrigerator until the oil heats up.

Do not add oil to the oven until it is properly heated. The oil should be very hot (slightly smoke-like).

If the Yorkshire Pudding does not lift enough, the oil may not be hot enough or the oven may not be warm enough.

Do not leave the oven door open for too long when removing the muffin mussels.
How to store Yorkshire pudding

Keep the remains of Yorkshire Puddings in a sealed container (at room temperature) for up to 2 days.
Can you freeze Yorkshire pudding

Yes, you can. The puddings of Yorkshire freeze very well. Cool the cooked Yorkshire Puddings, then freeze them in a reclosing ziploc bag. To warm them (after freezing), place them in the oven at 200oC/400oF for about 5 to 10 minutes until they are crisp.
Can I prepare it in advance?

Yes, you can. Just keep the Yorkshire Puddings cooked in the freezer until you are ready to serve them.
What to serve with Yorkshire puddings

The Yorkshire Puddings marry well with classic British dishes such as rozzle, pork roast, Lancashire fondue and even beef and Guinness stew.
