1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 to 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted

2. Add the brown sugar and heavy cream to the pan, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Bring to a boil and let boil for 1 minute, then remove from heat.
3. Add the salt and vanilla extract to the caramel mixture, stirring well.
4. Transfer the mixture to a large mixing bowl and let cool slightly.
5. Gradually beat in the powdered sugar, 1/2 cup at a time, with an electric mixer, until the frosting reaches a spreadable consistency.
6. Let the frosting set for about 30 minutes before using it to frost your cake or cupcakes.
Variations & Tips

For an extra touch of luxury, mix in a tablespoon of bourbon with the vanilla extract for a boozy flavor. If you’re a nut lover, fold in a half cup of toasted pecans or walnuts for added texture and richness. For those who enjoy a lighter note, replace the heavy cream with coconut milk and add 1/2 teaspoon of coconut extract.
