Prepare Peppers: Remove the tops and seeds from the green peppers. Parboil the peppers in boiling water for 5 minutes, then drain.

Cook Beef and Onion: Combine the ground beef and chopped onion in a skillet. Cook over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess grease.

Prepare Rice: Prepare the Rice-A-Roni according to the package directions, using the diced tomatoes instead of water.

Combine Rice and Beef: Once the rice is cooked, combine it with the cooked beef and onion.

Fill Peppers: Stuff the peppers evenly with the rice and beef mixture.

Add Sauce: Pour the tomato sauce (mixed with 1 teaspoon of sugar) around the peppers in the baking dish. Do not pour sauce over the peppers.

Bake: Cover the baking dish and bake at 350°F (175°C) for 35 minutes.

Add Cheese: Uncover the baking dish and top each pepper with shredded cheese.

Melt Cheese: Bake uncovered for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve: Serve the stuffed peppers hot, with the remaining tomato sauce on the side.
