Ingredients
For the Bread Dough
2¼ teaspoons active dry yeast (or 1 packet)
1 cup warm milk (about 110°F/45°C)
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
2 large eggs, plus 1 egg yolk (reserve the white for egg wash)
3½ cups all-purpose flour, divided
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon salt
For the Filling
2 cups cooked and shredded chicken breast
1 cup crumbled cooked bacon
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or Mexican blend for extra spice)
½ cup sour cream
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
For Assembly
1 egg white, beaten (for egg wash)
Coarse sea salt or sesame seeds (optional, for topping)
Instructions
Step 1: Make the Dough
In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in the warm milk. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes, or until frothy.
In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, 2 eggs, sugar, and salt. Stir in the yeast mixture.
Gradually add 3 cups of flour, stirring until a soft dough forms. Knead on a lightly floured surface for 5–7 minutes, or until smooth and elastic.
