Similarly, white vinegar can also be an excellent ally for removing dirt and grease from our switches and also for eliminating bacteria and germs that may have lodged there.
Other Methods
Alternatively, you can also use alcohol, which tends to have the same effect as the previous ingredients, but be careful not to overuse it to avoid electrical problems.
Detergents, whether purchased from a home care store or homemade, also tend to remove dirt from the light switches in our homes.
It is generally recommended to remove the plastic part of the switches and immerse them in a three-liter tub of water, adding three tablespoons of powdered or liquid detergent, and let them soak for 24 hours.
Then rinse them and let them dry so they can be placed on your wall. This method is recommended if there is paint residue after painting the walls, which has consequently clogged the switches.
Light Switches: Here's How to Clean Them
You can also create a disinfectant detergent and spray it on your switches by mixing 250 ml of vinegar in a basin with the same amount of 70% alcohol and hydrogen peroxide.
To these ingredients, add 6 drops of the essential oil of your choice, although it is recommended to use tea tree oil as it is known for its antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.
Additionally, this substance tends to have a strong anti-fungal effect. Lemon and lavender essential oils are also recommended, both effective at removing dirt and fighting bacteria.
This procedure, whichever method we prefer, should generally be performed at least once a week to eliminate any dirt that may form, as well as any bacteria and germs that may be lurking in our light switches.
