In another large bowl, sieve the flour, the chemical yeast, the remaining 2 cups of sugar and the salt together.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the vegetable oil, eggs, orange juice and vanilla extract until the whole is well mixed.
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until they are well mixed. Be careful not to mix too much.
About one third of the dough into the prepared cake mold. Spread half of the apple mixture on the dough. Repeat with another third of the dough and the remaining apples. Finally, cover with the rest of the dough. You can have other apple slices in a circle on top for a stylistic effect.
Cook in a preheated oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the cake comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool in the mold for about 10 minutes before turning it over onto a grille so that it cools completely.
