Puff pastry squares: perfect for a quick and easy appetizer

Ingredients (makes about 12):
1 roll of puff pastry (from the refrigerated section)

100g cream cheese or crème fraîche

100g grated cheese (e.g., Gouda, Emmental, feta)

1 egg (for brushing)

Salt, pepper, herbs (e.g., oregano, thyme)

Topping of your choice:

Cherry tomatoes, zucchini, bell peppers, mushrooms

Ham, salami, smoked salmon, olives

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 200°C (top/bottom heat) or 180°C (convection oven).

Prepare the puff pastry: Roll out and cut into even squares (approx. 6–8 cm).

Spread: Spread cream cheese or crème fraîche in the center of the squares, leaving a small border.

Top: Top with vegetables, cheese, or sausage as desired. Season with salt, pepper, and herbs.

Brush: Brush the edges with beaten egg.
